Certification Description


To assure that superpave mix designs and all associated testing of aggregate components for this purpose are done in accordance with standard test methods so that the test results reflect the actual characteristics of the components and mix.

Asphalt Paving, Level 1


Certification Scope


Practice for Random Sampling of Construction Materials (ASTM D3665), Rolling Straight Edge, Core Sampling and Temperature Measurement,     Density of Soils and Bituminous Concrete Mixtures in Place by the Nuclear Method (FM 1-T-238)

Certification Description


To assure that test results used for quality control, verification, dispute resolution and acceptance of asphalt pavements are performed in accordance with the standard test methods.

Certification Description


To assure that personnel responsible for inspecting asphalt pavement construction (paving and compaction) are familiar with FDOT specification requirements, good construction practices and equipment operation necessary to place and compact a Superpave mixture which will meet requirements for smoothness, texture, density, cross slope and thickness.

Concrete Laboratory Inspector Specification

Certification Description


To assure that job site concrete tests including quality control, quality assurance, verification, and dispute resolution tests for concrete construction, used as part of the acceptance program, are performed in accordance with the Standard Test Methods, project specifications and other contract documents.

Drill Shaft Inspector


Certification Scope


Will familiarize the inspector with the terminology, equipment and process details pertaining to drilled shaft installation. Will provide the inspector with the knowledge and understanding of Foundation Plans, Standard Specifications (Section 455), related Specifications, and related details of the Construction Project Administration Manual. The course describes the inspectors role from step one of the Drilled Shaft Installation Plan to the final step of Shaft Installation and Acceptance

The course includes a review of the equipment used for all drilled shaft installation, including miscellaneous shafts; methods of installation (dry, wet, temporary casing, and permanent casing); pilot holes and test holes; slurry and slurry testing; shaft bottom inspection; reinforcing steel and it’s placement; concrete placement (tremies and pumps); load tests; tolerance; QA Guidelists; acceptance; pay quantities (including homework and problems).

Certification Description


To prepare the inspector to monitor and document drilled shaft operations resulting in safe foundation installation per the Contract Documents.

Earthwork Construction Inspector, Level 1


Certification Scope


Moisture Density Relationship (FM 5-521 and 5-525), Density of Solid and Bituminous Concrete Mixtures in Place by the Nuclear Method (FM 1-T 238), Determination of Moisture Content by Means of a Calcium Carbide Gas Pressure Moisture Tester (FM 5-507), Reporting Test Results in the Density Log Book, Sampling Soils, Limerock, Cemented Coquina, Bank Run Shell, and Stabilizing Materials from the Roadway (FM 5-504), Nuclear gauge maintenance, Sampling soils and limerock

Certification Description


To safely and effectively sample soil materials from the roadway, take earthwork density readings and record those findings in a density log book.

Earthwork Construction Inspector, Level 2

Density theory, Density logbooks, Overview of FDOT standard specifications and design standards.

Certification Description


To provide trainees with the instruction and skills required for applying the various Standards and Specifications associated with earthwork testing and the proper recording and tracking of those test results in the FDOT Density Log Book.

 

Limerock Bearing Ratio Technician


Certification Scope

Certification Description


To ensure that personnel responsible for testing or inspecting mineral aggregates and soils are proficient and knowledgeable with applicable testing methods.

Prestress 450 Specification


Certification Description


The training course covers the materials that are included in Section 450 of the FDOT Specifications.

Verification inspectors are required to have PCI Level II Quality Control Inspector certification to receive a certificate of completion for the FDOT Section 450 Specification examination.
